More than 400 cultural events are planned in Marseille and its neighbourhood in 2013. To help you take full advantage of this exceptionnal year, Living in Provence proposes a selection of unmissable events for Marseille-Provence 2013.
The MuCEM opening
Dedicated to the civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean, the MuCEM museum in Marseille will certainly be one of the highlights of Marseille-Provence 2013. The building designed by Rudy Ricciotti is a masterpiece on its own. It overlooks the Port of Marseille and offers a great view on the city.
The MuCEM will expose nearly 1 million pieces (objects, paintings, photographs, books, recordings…) in 40,000 sq meters. 3 restaurants managed by 3-star chef Gerald Passedat will complete this unique venue.
The MuCEM will open on June 7th.
MP2013 hiking trail : GR2013
The GR2013 – Marseille Provence 2013 hiking trail – offers a unique opportunity to explore Marseille and its region. The 360 km long route will guide you through urban and industrial spaces in Marseille, the Etang de Berre, the Massif de l’Etoile mountain range…
Le Grand Atelier du Midi : The Big Midday Workshop
Marseille, Aix en Provence, Arles… : these towns have inspired many great artists over the years. Marseille Provence 2013 will pay tribute to this heritage with a great exhibition taking place in Marseille (Palais Longchamp) and in Aix en Provence (Granet Museum). The opportunity to see 200 masterpieces covering a lengthy period from 1880 to the 1960s by main artists such as Cezanne, Van Gogh, Matisse, Buffet, Francis Bacon…
